Frequently Asked Questions

How are the paintings made?

Many people assume that my renditions are made from some kind of automated process, but this simply is not the case. Each painting is made by hand (oil paint applied to canvas). There is no drawing, or tracing prior to the application of paint.

My goal is not to claim that these paintings are indistinguishable from the originals. Instead, my goal is for you to say, "That looks just like the original!" and I am very confident that you will (Click on the 'Rendition Samples' Page to view actual renditions for yourself).

Each of my paintings are made with heavily applied paint, which adds a texture element that simply does not exist in prints.

How does the order process work?

Each of the paintings I create are made strictly on a custom made order basis. One of the most beneficial aspects of this service is that I can reproduce the painting of your choice to your size specifications.

The first step is for you to decide what painting you want. If you're unsure of where to begin looking, you can try browsing through the "Online Catalog", which is available on this site. Of course, there are thousands more to choose from and you can find many images in other web sites, books, or other sources.

Once you find the painting you want, the next step is to e-mail me(tim@monetrenditions.theshoppe.com),and inform me of the painting's title, the year it was made (if possible), and the approximate size that you are interested in.

I will then respond with a quoted price and you can agree or disagree to go ahead with the order. If you agree, I will e-mail you back to confirm and finalize the order (Most orders will require 120 - 160 days for completion, but actual time lengths will vary).

No down payment is required for the painting, but complete payment is needed before the painting will ship out. Buyer pays UPS shipping charges and proper insurance (see the "Price Estimates" Page for details). Personal checks, cashiers checks, money orders, Visa and Master Cards are all accepted. (Personal checks must clear before the painting will ship out). Seller ships internationally.

Isn't it risky to purchase art over the internet?

Of course is seems difficult to commit your cash for something you haven't been able to see and touch! I understand this completely, so here's what I do:

First, there is NO downpayment. That's right...NO downpayment. I do not have any problems doing this because the bottom line is that if you ever decided to back out of the order, I would still have a painting that can easily be resold.

Second, you will receive a digital photograph of your painting before it ships out. You may be thinking that a photograph is not even close to seeing the real thing and I agree. That's why I go a step further...

If you are not satisfied with your painting after you receive it, I will refund your money...no questions asked. Simply send it back and I will mail you a check or credit your card. The only risk to you is the money used for shipping, which is not refundable.

Is this legal?

I am often asked this question, but the answer is simply...yes. As long as I don't pretend to you that my renditions were actually made by Monet.

Under international copyright law the works of any kind of artist (painters, writers, musicians, for example) pass into the 'public domain' once the artist has been dead for seventy years.

Can I purchase a frame from you?

I don't sell frames for two very good reasons:

First, if we were to frame your painting, the shipping costs would be horrendous!

Second, it is much better for you to look at the painting in your own home and consult with your local framing specialist to choose the most appropriate 'finish' for your painting.
